Somerset Hills Handicapped Riding Center is located on a twelve acre farm in Tewksbury Township, New Jersey. The 15,000 square foot complex includes a fourteen stall barn with heated tack room, a 45’x 90’ indoor riding arena, a 160’x 200’ outdoor riding arena, a wheelchair accessible mounting area, equipment storage area, administrative offices, an education/therapy room and an apartment for the barn manager. SHHRC is open 12 months a year, six days a week.
The indoor arena enables the Center to operate in the evening and during inclement weather. The program maintains 12 horses and ponies for use in the program. Both the farm and horses are owned by the organization. |

SHHRC’s programs make use of the indoor and outdoor riding arenas as well as the Cold Brook Reserve trail system. This allows riding instructors and therapists a variety of settings for teaching riding and providing therapy. Participants get to enjoy the wonderful weather during spring, summer and fall. SHHRC’s facility is close to major highways to make accessing the facility easier. |

SHHRC is blessed with five pastures; each with a run-in shed for the horses. These pastures are well maintained by mowing and dragging and provide grazing, social interaction and exercise for the SHHRC herd. Horses are herd animals and are designed to spend most of the day grazing with others of their kind. Here at SHHRC we are able to provide our horses with an ideal lifestyle that incorporates group turnout with horses of similar personalities. |
